Our full team will continue to be available as per normal.

Although everyone is facing unsettling and difficult times, for our firm it is largely ‘business as usual’. The main difference is that we are operating from the comfort of our home offices rather than our business premises.

Meetings

All meetings can easily be run virtually. We already run meetings this way for many rural and remote clients and are now doing this for all clients.

Paperwork and Technology

We ask that all paperwork is either loaded onto the Flor-Hanly portal, emailed or texted. We have been advised that it is not safe for anyone to be handling papers at present. Until now, some people have stayed paper based for their tax matters. If you are currently doing this and have work that still needs to come into the office this financial year, please hold onto this for now. You can expect a call from your accountant before we start your work.

Flor-Hanly has the technology, systems and processes to continue to confidently care for and advise you remotely. We have used collaborative meeting technology such as Zoom for many years and already regularly use these tools for client meetings. We are now using this for all clients. When it comes to using such technology, your accountant will set up the meeting. All you will normally need to do is to click on a link to join the meeting.

Scams

Please take caution if you receive unexpected emails or texts. Many scammers are taking advantage of this virus. A typical example is an emergency alert regarding COVID-19 being texted, emailed or sent via Facebook. Please never click on such links. They are a perfect way to hijack your computer and steal personal information. Also, do not send money to anyone as a response to an email or text without calling to check that it is genuine, particularly if you are not expecting an invoice for the exact amount stated. As per usual if you receive threatening calls, texts or emails from the ‘tax office’ or ‘federal police’ etc, these will be fake and designed to scare you. If you are unsure, please call our office for advice.

Communication

If you are on Facebook and are not yet following the Flor-Hanly page, now would be a great time to start. We will continue to put updates and business information on this page, along with a few fun photos from our team working from home. It is also one of the places where we will let you know if there are any problems with phone lines/emails etc. In the coming weeks, our Director, Tony Olsen, will also begin doing live feeds through this platform.
